Article 36 of the \textit{Disquisitiones Arithmeticae} of Gauss treats the solution to certain systems of modular equations. Since the problem is relevant to the calculation of the date of Easter it is not surprising that there is a substantial history surrounding it. This note mentions the work of J. H. Lambert, J. Bernoulli, and C. F. Hindenburg. The latter's work on this subject was rediscovered in the 1950s in connection with computer algorithms. This is a sample from the author's PhD thesis.
