Let \(\Omega\subseteq\mathbb R^N\) be a bounded domain with a \(C^2\)-boundary \(\Gamma\). The authors study the following resonant semilinear elliptic differential equation with a non-smooth potential \[ \Delta u(z)- \lambda_ku(z)\in \partial j(z,u(z))\quad\text{for a.a.}\,z\in\Omega, \] \[ u|_\Gamma= 0, \] where \(k\geq 1\) is a fixed integer, \(\{\lambda_n\}_{n\geq 1}\) is the increasing sequence of distinct eigenvalues of the negative Laplacian with Dirichlet boundary condition (that is, of \((-\Delta, H^1_0(\Omega))\), \(j(z,\theta)\) is locally Lipschitz in the \(\theta\)-variable integrand (in general it can be non-smooth) and \(\partial j(z,\theta)\) is the Clarke subdifferential with respect to the \(\theta\)-variable. The hypotheses of the authors allow the non-smooth potential to interact asymptotically at \(\pm\infty\) with two consecutive eigenvalues of higher-order. The authors' approach is variational and is based on the non-smooth critical point theory.
