On the splitting problem for manifold pairs with boundaries (Q998226)

In the paper under review, the authors introduce some groups of obstructions to splitting of surgery mixed structures in the sense of Wall, along submanifolds of manifolds with boundaries. They study properties of the introduced groups and their relations to surgery and splitting obstruction groups by making use of the algebraic surgery exact sequences of Ranicki and the surgery \(L\)-spectrum. The authors consider also some related geometric examples.
