A note on blocks with dihedral defect groups. (Q998822)

In this paper it is shown that the 2-regular subspace of the center of a 2-block of a finite group with a dihedral defect group is multiplicatively closed. A similar result was proved by \textit{Y. Fan} and the second author for blocks with Abelian defect groups [see J. Algebra 317, No. 1, 250-259 (2007; Zbl 1179.20008)]. The reader should compare this block-version result obtained in the paper under review with that of \textit{H. Meyer} [Arch. Math. 90, No. 2, 112-122 (2008; Zbl 1144.20002)]; namely, he shows that the 2-regular subspace of the center of the group algebra \(FX\) (\(X\) is a finite group with dihedral Sylow 2-subgroups and \(F\) an algebraically closed field of characteristic 2), is multiplicatively closed.
