On Bost-Connes type systems for number fields (Q999711)

This article gives a final complete classification of the KMS-states of the Bost-Connes system (\(GL_1\)-case) for general number fields, therefore settling the main analytic problem concerning Bost-Connes-type \(C^*\)-dynamical systems. The authors show how to reduce the study of KMS states of a certain restricted groupoid \(C^*\)-algebras to measures of the (unrestricted) transformation group \((G,X)\) satisfying a scaling condition. In the final part of the paper, the groupoid underlying the Bost-Connes system for a number field is interpreted geometrically by using a suitable notion of \(n\)-dimensional K-lattice.
