KNOT GROUP EPIMORPHISMS
From MaRDI portal
Abstract: We consider the relations and on the collection of all knots, where (respectively, ) if there exists an epimorphism of knot groups (respectively, preserving peripheral systems). When is a torus knot, the relations coincide and must also be a torus knot; we determine the knots that can occur. If is a 2-bridge knot and , then is a 2-bridge knot with determinant a proper divisor of the determinant of ; only finitely many knots are possible.
