The paper analyzes the plane outer Lamb problem, which involves a concentrated time delta-like force applied to the plane boundary of an elastic half-space. The Cagniard-de Hoop method is used to invert Fourier and Laplace integral transforms and allows to obtain closed-form solutions for the displacement fields. Closed-form expressions for the stress fields are derived. The stress invariants are calculated instead of stress components. The Rayleigh waves and P-waves arrival are studied in the near surface zone that can be useful in surface seismology.
