Lebesgue-type decomposition of positive operators

Abstract: We give a simple and short proof of the classical Lebesgue decomposition theorem of measures via the Riesz orthogonal decomposition theorem of Hilbert spaces. The tools we employ are elementary Hilbert space techniques.
