Abstract: It is proved that every two-dimensional residual Galois representation of the absolute Galois group of an arbitrary number field lifts to a characteristic zero $p$-adic representation, if local lifting problems at places above $p$ are unobstructed.

The author proves a generalization of a result of \textit{J. Manoharmayum} [J.\ Number Theory 129, No.\ 5, 1178--1190 (2009; Zbl 1252.11047)] on lifts of residual two-dimensional Galois representations to characteristic zero.
