From MaRDI portal

Linux plays an important role as a server operating system in local area networks and Intranets. So often it is the goal for hacker attacks. The damages caused by hacking are considerable. Unfortunately only in a few cases one can follow the track up to an attacker.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThe book of Tobias Klein gives a systematic, comprehensive and profound overview over all the many possibilities of attacking computer systems, especially of attacking Linux systems. To each way of attack, possibilities of counter-measures are demonstrated. A lot of practical tools, most of them gratuitously obtainable, are presented. System of reference is a Linux Red Hat Distribution (6.x on x86 machines). The most important tools, and there are many of them, are discussed comprehensively and carefully. The installation hints and operating instructions are very helpful for the practical work.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINESystem and network administrators here find an excellent, very informative and well readable book on Linux security (and on general computer security too). This persons also have the knowledge in C and Shell Script programming, which is necessary to understand this book in its details.
