Local complementation in Banach spaces and its preservation under free constructions
The authors explore the concept of local complementation in Banach spaces and examine its behavior under various free constructions, such as Lipschitz-free Banach spaces and free Banach lattices. To unify these settings, they develop a general categorical framework.\N\NWithin this framework, the authors introduce several variants of local complementation across different categories, for instance, replacing linear operators with Lipschitz maps. All these variants are proved to be equivalent to the classical notion of local complementation. Moreover, each variant admits an analogous characterization to the classical characterization of local complementation (for more details, see Theorems~3.1 and~3.2).\N\NMoreover, a general preservation theorem under free constructions is proved (see Theorem~4.1 and Corollary~4.2). In particular, if a Banach space \(Y\) is locally complemented in \(X\), then the corresponding Lipschitz-free spaces satisfy that \(\mathcal{F}(Y)\) is locally complemented in \(\mathcal{F}(X)\).
