Maps of minimum energy from compact simply-connected Lie groups
From MaRDI portal
Based on the fact that the codimension of the cut-locus of any simply- connected compact Lie group and \(S^ n\), \(n>2\), Sp(p q)/Sp(p)\(\cdot Sp(q)\), SU(2n)/Sp(n), \(n>1\), \(F_ 4/Spin(9)\), \(E_ 6/F_ 4\) is bigger than 2, the author proves that the infimum of the energy in any homotopy class of maps of products of such spaces (equipped with any Riemannian metric) into any Riemannian manifold is zero.
