MathModDB/Ontology

MathModDB is a database of mathematical models developed by MaRDI's Task Area 4 as an ontology. MathModDB defines a data model with classes, object properties/relations, data and annotation properties as an ontology. The structure of the ontology is displayed in the image below:

Here, items of all classes may be connected to Publications, which in the case of scholarly articles can take the following roles:

• use
• invention
• documentation
• science project

Moreover, the symbol * may stand for the possible roles of formulas in a model or a task:

• governing equation
• initial condition
• constraint condition
• boundary condition
• analytical solution
• coupling condition
• weak formulation
• computational domain
• output
• final condition
• strong formulation

Finally, ** stands for the possible roles of quantities in a task:

• output
• input
• parameter
• constant
• objective function
• analytical solution
• parameter

In all three cases, the respective roles are specified using qualifiers.
