Maximal subrings of certain noncommutative rings

From MaRDI portal

The author of the paper under review deals with the study of the existence of maximal subrings in some special non-commutative rings. Concretely, it is observed that if \(T\) is an algebraic \(K\)-algebra over a field \(K\), then either \(T\) has a maximal subring or its unit group \(U(T)\) is integral over the prime subring of \(T\). Moreover, if \(T\) is a left Artinian ring which is integral over its center, then it is proved that either \(T\) has a maximal subring or \(T\) is countable and is integral over its prime subring. Certain other results in this vein are also established -- see, for more details, Sections 2, 3 and 4.
