Metrical approximations of functions

From MaRDI portal

Let \(X\) and \(Y\) be complex Banach spaces, \(\rho\) be a general binary relation on \(Y\), \(\emptyset \neq \Lambda \subset R^n\) and \(\Lambda ^{\prime\prime}:=\{\tau \in R^n:\tau +\Lambda\subseteq \Lambda\}\). A continuous function \(F: \Lambda \times X\rightarrow Y\) is said to be \(\rho\)-periodic if there exists \(\omega \in R^n\setminus \{0\}\cap \Lambda ^{\prime\prime}\) such that \(F(t+\omega;x)\in\rho(F(t;x)),\ t\in \Lambda, x\in X\).\N\NMetrical approximations of functions by trigonometric polynomials and \(\rho\)-periodic type functions are studied. Generalized Stepanov, Weyl, Besicovitch, and Doss approaches to the metrical approximations of functions are also investigated. The authors provide certain applications to the abstract Volterra integral-differential equations. Many structural properties of the introduced spaces are established. Furthermore, the new notion of metrical semi-periodicity is introduced and studied.
