Asymptotic results for variants of the Stringer bound are given. The results indicate that the variants described by \textit{Lucassen, Moors} and \textit{van Batenburg} [Kvantitative Methoden 51, 17-25 (1996)] are inferior to the Stringer bound. The present article may also be considered as a continuation of three previous articles of the authors on Stringer bounds [Comput. Math. Appl. 29, No. 10, 51-59 (1995; Zbl 0819.62040); Stat. Neerl. 50, No. 3, 367-389 (1996; Zbl 0906.62044); Statistics 31, No. 2, 151-186 (1998; Zbl 0904.62062)].
