Multiplicative iterative methods in computed tomography

From MaRDI portal

[For the entire collection see Zbl 0746.00070.] Two versions of the computerized tomography (CT) are considered: the transmission computerized tomography (TCT) and the emission computed tomography (ECT). In TCT and ECT the following optimization problems to be solved are: minimize \(f(x)\) subject to \(Ax=b\), \(x\geq 0\) where \(f(x)=\sum_{j=1}^ n x_ j\log x_ j\) or \(f(x)=-\sum_{j=1}^ n \log x_ j\), respectively minimize \(f(x)\) subject to \(x\geq 0\) where \(- f(x)=\sum_{i=1}^ n b_ i\log\langle a_ i,x\rangle-\langle a_ i,x\rangle\) or \(f(x)=\sum_{i=1}^ n (b_ i-\langle a_ i,x\rangle)^ 2\). For these problems MART-type algorithms are presented and convergence proofs for QMART1 and QMART2 are given. Furthermore the EM algorithm and the image space reconstruction algorithm are applied and a general scheme for adapting the EM algorithm for penalized maximum likelihood is given.
