Multiplicative representation of a class of homogeneous polynomials
Given Banach lattices \(E_1,\ldots,E_n\) and \(F\), an \(n\)-linear mapping \(T\colon E_1\times\cdots\times E_n\to F\) is said to be disjointness preserving if for each \(j\), \(1\le j\le n\), and each fixed \((x_1\ldots,x_{j-1},x_{j+1},\ldots, x_n)\) in \(E_1^+\times \cdots\times E_{j-1}^+\times E_{j+1}^+\times\cdots\times E_n^+\), the linear mapping \(T^{(j)}\colon E_j\to F\), \(T^{(j)}(x)=T(x_1\ldots,x_{j-1},x,x_{j+1},\ldots,x_n)\) is disjointness preserving. In this paper it is assumed that \(K_1,\ldots, K_n\) and \(Q\) are extremely disconnected compact Hausdorff topological spaces, that \(E_i\) is an order dense ideal of \(C_\infty(K_i)\) (\(1\le i\le n\)) and \(F\) is an order dense ideal in \(C_\infty(Q)\). The notation \(C_0(Q,K_i)\) is used for the set of all continuous functions \(\tau\colon\mathrm{dom}(\tau)\to K_i\) with \(\mathrm{dom}(\tau)\) a clopen subset of \(Q\). For \(\tau\in C_0(Q,K_i)\) the function \(\tau^*(x)\colon Q\to\overline{\mathbb{R}}\) is defined by \(\tau^*(x)(q)=(x \circ \tau)(q)\) for \(q\in\mathrm{dom}(\tau)\) and \(\tau^*(x)(q)=0\) for \(q\in Q\setminus \mathrm{dom}(\tau)\). The author proves that if \(T\colon E_1 \times\cdots\times E_n\to F\) is a regular disjointness preserving \(n\)-linear mapping then for every \(i=1,\ldots, n\) there are continuous functions \(\tau_i\) in \(C_0(Q,K_i)\), a family of positive functions \((w_{i,\xi})_{\xi\in \Xi} \) in \(C_\infty(K_i)\) such that \(1/w_{i,\xi}\) belongs to \(E_i\) for all \(\xi\) in \(\Xi\) and there is a family of pairwise disjoint functions \((W_{\xi})_ {\xi\in \Xi}\) in \(C_\infty(Q)\) such that \N\[\N T(x_1,\ldots, x_n)=o-\sum_{\xi\in\Xi}W_{\xi}\tau_1^*(w_{1,\xi}x_1)\ldots \tau_n^* (w_{n,\xi}x_n) \N\] \Nfor all \(x_1\in E_1,\ldots, x_n\in E_n\).\N\NA polynomial version of this result and a version for orthogonally additive polynomials are also obtained.
