Nef vector bundles on a hyperquadric with first Chern class two

From MaRDI portal

A vector bundle \(\mathcal{E}\) on a projective variety \(X\) is said to be \textit{numerically effective} (\textit{nef}) if the relative very ample line bundle \(\mathcal{O}_{\mathbb{P}(\mathcal{E})}(1)\) on \(\mathbb{P}(\mathcal{E})\) is nef.\N\N\textit{T. Peternell} et al. classified nef vector bundles on \(\mathbb{Q}^n\) of dimension \(n \geq 3\) with first Chern class \(\leq 1\) [Lect. Notes Math. 1507, 145--156 (1992; Zbl 0781.14006)]. The author provided a different proof of the classification, which was based on an analysis with full strong exceptional collection of vector bundles on \(\mathbb{Q}^n\) [\textit{M. Ohno}, Rend. Circ. Mat. Palermo (2) 71, No. 2, 755--781 (2022; Zbl 1494.14044)]. Moreover the author classified nef vector bundles on \(\mathbb{Q}^3\) with first Chern class two in the previous paper [\textit{M. Ohno}, Proc. Edinb. Math. Soc., II. Ser. 68, No. 2, 526--565 (2025; Zbl 1573.14137)].\N\NIn the paper under review, the author classifies nef vector bundles on a smooth hyperquadric \(\mathbb{Q}^n\) of dimension \(n \geq 4\) with first Chern class two. The main theorem in the paper is as follows.\N\N{Theorem 1.1.} \ Let \(\mathcal{E}\) be a nef vector bundles of rank \(r\) on a smooth hyperquadric \(\mathbb{Q}^n\) of dimension \(n \geq 4\) over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero, let \(\mathcal{S}\), \(\mathcal{S}^+\), and \(\mathcal{S}^-\) be spinor bundles, and \(\mathcal{S}^\pm\) denotes \(\mathcal{S}^+\) or \(\mathcal{S}^-\). Suppose that \(\det \mathcal{E}\cong \mathcal{O}(2)\). Then \(\mathcal{E}\) is isomorphic to one of the following vector bundles or fits in one of the following exact sequences: \begin{itemize} \N\item[(1)] \ \(\mathcal{O}(2)\oplus \mathcal{O}^{\oplus r-1}\),\N\item[(2)] \ \(\mathcal{O}(1)^{\oplus 2} \oplus \mathcal{O}^{\oplus r-2}\), \N\item[(3)] \ \(n=4\), \(\mathcal{O}(1) \oplus \mathcal{S}^\pm \oplus \mathcal{O}^{\oplus r-3}\), \N\item[(4)] \ \(0 \rightarrow \mathcal{O}(-1) \rightarrow \mathcal{O}(1)\oplus \mathcal{O}^{\oplus r} \rightarrow \mathcal{E} \rightarrow 0\), \N\item[(5)] \ \(n=4\), \(0 \rightarrow \mathcal{O} \rightarrow \mathcal{S}^\pm \oplus \mathcal{S}^\pm \oplus \mathcal{O}^{\oplus r-3} \rightarrow \mathcal{E} \rightarrow 0\), \N\item[(6)] \ \(n=5\), \(0 \rightarrow \mathcal{O} \rightarrow \mathcal{S} \oplus \mathcal{O}^{\oplus r-3} \rightarrow \mathcal{E} \rightarrow 0\), \N\item[(7)] \ \(n=6\), \(0 \rightarrow \mathcal{O} \rightarrow \mathcal{S}^\pm \oplus \mathcal{O}^{\oplus r-3} \rightarrow \mathcal{E} \rightarrow 0\), \N\item[(8)] \ \(n=4\), \(0 \rightarrow \mathcal{S}^\pm(-1) \oplus \mathcal{O}(-1) \rightarrow \mathcal{O}^{\oplus r+3} \rightarrow \mathcal{E} \rightarrow 0\), \N\item[(9)] \ \(0 \rightarrow \mathcal{O}(-1)^{\oplus 2} \rightarrow \mathcal{O}^{\oplus r+2} \rightarrow \mathcal{E} \rightarrow 0\), \N\item[(10)] \ \(0 \rightarrow \mathcal{O}(-2) \rightarrow \mathcal{O}^{\oplus r+1} \rightarrow \mathcal{E} \rightarrow 0\). \N\end{itemize}\NFor describing \(\mathcal{E}\) in Theorem 1.1, the author study a minimal locally free resolution of \(\mathcal{E}\) in terms of some twists of the full strong exceptional collection \((\mathcal{O}, \mathcal{S}, \mathcal{O}(1), \mathcal{O}(2), \dots, \mathcal{O}(n-1))\) of vector bundles if \(n\) is odd, and collection \((\mathcal{O}, \mathcal{S}^+, \mathcal{S}^-, \mathcal{O}(1), \mathcal{O}(2), \dots, \mathcal{O}(n-1))\) of vector bundles if \(n\) is even.
