Nonlinear abstract differential equations with deviated argument

From MaRDI portal

The class of nonlinear delay differential equations \[ \begin{aligned} u'(t)&=Au(t)+f(t,u(t),u[\varphi(u(t),t)]), \quad t\geq 0,\tag{1} \\ u(0)&=u_{0} \in X.\tag{2} \end{aligned} \] Here, \(A:D(A)\subset X \rightarrow X\) is the infinitesimal generator of an analytic semigroup of bounded linear operators on a Banach space \((X,\|\cdot\|)\) and \(f,\varphi\) are continuous functions. Let \(B_{\alpha}=(-A)^{\alpha}\), \(\alpha\in (0,1)\), be the fractional power of \(A\) and \((X_{\alpha},\| \cdot\|_{\alpha})\) the space \(B_{\alpha}\) endowed with the graph norm. By assuming local Lipschitz conditions in the form \[ \| f(t,u_1 ,v_1 )- f(t,u_2 ,v_2 )\| \leq L_{f}(V)\left( | t-s|^{\gamma_{1}}+\| u_1-u_2 \|_{\alpha}+ \| v_1-v_2 \|_{\alpha -1} \right) \] on \(V\subset R \times X_{\alpha}\times X_{\alpha-1}\) open, \[ \| \varphi (u,t)- \varphi (v,s)\| \leq L_{\varphi}(W)\left( | t-s|^{\gamma_{2}}+\| u -u \|_{\alpha}\right) \] on \(W\subset X_{\alpha }\times R \) open, the author discusses the existence of local and global solutions for the system (1), (2). The paper contains an application to partial differential equations.
