Notes on the derived Walker planes
This is a note dealing with translation planes of order \(q^ 2\) admitting a collineation group of order q(q-1). Classes of such planes have been studied by \textit{M. L. Narayana Rao} and \textit{K. Satyanarayana} [J. Comb. Theory, Ser. A 35, 33-82 (1983; Zbl 0512.51010)]. Other such classes were introduced by \textit{S. D. Cohen} and \textit{M. J. Ganley} [Q. J. Math., Oxf. II. Ser. 35, 101-113 (1984; Zbl 0541.51005)]. The authors now show that all the planes of Nayarana Rao and Satyanarayana and one of the classes of Cohen and Ganley may be obtained by the derivation of Walker planes [cf. \textit{J.B. Fink}, \textit{N. L. Johnson}, and \textit{F. W. Wilke}, Rend. Circ. Mat. Palermo, II. Ser. 32, 76-99 (1983; Zbl 0532.51006)].
