Numerical range of a continuant matrix
From MaRDI portal
For a continuant matrix \(A\in M_n({\mathbb C})\) of a special form \(A=\left(\begin{smallmatrix} 0 & I_{n-1} \\ 0 & 0\end{smallmatrix}\right) +\text{diag} (a,b,a,b,\dotsc)+\left(\begin{smallmatrix} 0 & 0\\ -I_{n-1} & 0\end{smallmatrix}\right)\) its numerical range is explicitly described as an elliptic disc.
