On 2-categories of extensions
This paper is essentially an illustration to the general technique of homotopical enhancements [\textit{D. Kaledin}, ``Enhancement for categories and homotopical algebra, Preprint, \url{arXiv:2409.17489}]. Taking a derived category of an abelian category, the author considers its full subcategory generated by complexes of length 2, which has a natural refinement to a 2-category called the \textit{2-category of extensions}.\N\NThis paper achieves two things. Firstly, the author restricts himself to the case when \(\mathcal{D}=\mathcal{D}\left(\mathcal{A}\right)\) is the derived category of an abelian category \(\mathcal{A}\), constructing the 2-category of extensions corresponding to \(\mathcal{D}_{\left[0,1\right]}\left(\mathcal{A}\right)\) by hand. Secondly, it is shown how to do a very general construction using the enhancemnt formalism of [loc. cit.], proving that the two constructions agree.
