On Markov set-valued functions between one-dimensional continua
The paper presents a generalization joint work of the author with Imamura and Matsuhashi [\textit{H. Imamura} et al., Bull. Malays. Math. Sci. Soc. (2) 48, No. 3, Paper No. 86, 26 p. (2025; Zbl 1571.54025)]. In that paper, the authors introduced conditions under which two Markov set-valued functions on graphs follow the same pattern and proved that any two generalized inverse limits of finite graphs with Markov set-valued bonding functions following the same pattern are homeomorphic. Building on this foundation, the present paper extends the theory to a broader setting.\N\NThe generalization is developed by first introducing the concept of Markov set-valued functions on one-dimensional continua. This construction relies on the fact that a one-dimensional continuum can be represented as an inverse limit of finite graphs with surjective bonding maps. The paper then defines when two Markov set-valued functions on one-dimensional continua follow the same pattern. The main result, stated in Theorem 4.1, shows that any two generalized inverse limits of one-dimensional continua with Markov set-valued bonding functions satisfying the same pattern are homeomorphic.\N\NOverall, the paper is technically demanding and follows the established framework of research on generalized inverse limits with set-valued functions. Its main contribution lies in the non-trivial formalization of the setting required to construct the corresponding spaces and bonding functions. Diagrams throughout the article play an important role in clarifying intricate constructions and making the technical details more accessible.
