On coarse embeddings of amenable groups into hyperbolic graphs
The paper studies obstructions to coarse embeddings of amenable groups into hyperbolic graphs. The main result establishes that if a unimodular amenable locally compact compactly generated group admits a regular map to \(H^n \times \mathbb{R}^d\), then it must be virtually nilpotent with degree of growth at most \(d+n-1\) (Theorem 1.1). This bound is sharp since \(\mathbb{Z}^{n+d-1}\) coarsely embeds into \(H^n \times \mathbb{R}^d\).\N\NAs a corollary, the author proves that an amenable group regularly (or coarsely) embeds into a hyperbolic group if and only if it is virtually nilpotent (Corollary 1.3), answering a question by \textit{D. Hume} and \textit{A. Sisto} [New York J. Math. 23, 1657--1670 (2017; Zbl 1434.20027)].
