On coefficient domination for some classes of analytic functions

From MaRDI portal

Let \({\mathcal A}\) denote the set of all functions analytic in \(D=\{z\in\mathbb{C}\): \(| z|<1\}\). For \(\alpha\leq 1\) and \(\beta\geq 0\), let \({\mathcal A}_{\alpha,\beta}\) denote the set of functions \(f\) in \({\mathcal A}\) such that \(f(0)=0\), \(f'(0)=1\) and \[ \left|\arg {{zf'(0)} \over {e^{i\gamma}S(z)}}\right|\leq \beta{\pi \over 2}, \qquad z\in D, \] for some \(s\in St(\alpha)\), the starlike functions of order \(\alpha\) and for some real number \(\gamma\). For \(q>0\) and \(| p|\leq q\), let \({\mathcal V}_{p,q}\) denote the set of functions \(f\) in \({\mathcal A}\), \(f(0)=0\), \(f'(0)=1\), having bounded boundary rotation. For \(a>b\) and \(b>0\), let \[ {\mathcal F}_{a,b}=\left\{\int_{U\times U} {{(1-xz)^ a} \over {(1-yz)^ b}}d\mu(x,y)\right\}, \] where \(\mu\) is a probability measure on \(U\times U\), \(U=\{z\in\mathbb{C}\), \(| z|=1\}\). Let \({\mathcal F}\) be a compact subset of \({\mathcal A}\). The closed convex hull of \({\mathcal F}\) is denoted by \(\overline {\text{co}} {\mathcal F}\). The family \({\mathcal F}'\) denotes the set of derivatives of the functions in the family \({\mathcal F}\). In this paper the authors have shown that a coefficient domination for \({\mathcal V}_{p,q}'\), in the range \(p\geq 0\) and \(q\geq\max\{p,2\}\), extends to \({\mathcal A}_{\alpha,\beta}'\) in a corresponding range for \(\alpha\) and \(\beta\). Examples are constructed to show that the range of parameters in both cases is sharp for the second coefficient. As a consequence they obtain: if \(\varepsilon=2(1-\alpha)\) and \(\beta+{1\over 2}<1\), then \[ \overline{\text{co}} {\mathcal A}_{\alpha,\beta}' \supsetneqq \overline{\text{co}} {\mathcal V}_{\varepsilon,2\beta+\varepsilon}' \supsetneqq {\mathcal F}_{\beta,\beta+\varepsilon}. \] Moreover, the authors extend and organize a variety of results in the literature for the families \({\mathcal A}_{\alpha,\beta}\), \({\mathcal V}_{p,q}\) and \({\mathcal F}_{a,b}\) and identify the form of the support points of \({\mathcal A}_{\alpha,\beta}\) and \({\mathcal V}_{p,q}\).
