On commuting automorphisms of some groups

From MaRDI portal

Let \(G\) be a finite group. In this paper, the authors study when the set \[A(G) = \{ \alpha \in \mathrm{Aut}(G) : \alpha(g)g = g\alpha(g) \ \forall g \in G \}\] forms a subgroup of \(\mathrm{Aut}(G)\) (in which case \(G\) is called an A-group). They prove that all metacyclic groups are A-groups and construct, for each \(n \geq 1\), finite \(p\)-groups of class \(n\) that satisfy this property. They also provide conditions ensuring that \(p\)-groups with \(|G/G'| \le p^3\) are A-groups and exhibit families where \(A(G) = \mathrm{Aut}_c(G)\).\N\NFor further information on related topics, the reader is referred to the work of \textit{P.
