On doubly transitive groups

From MaRDI portal

The paper concerns restricted sharply \(3\)-transitive groups constructed from \(3\)-pseudofields. Such a group acts sharply transitively on a prescribed family of ordered triples of distinct points, rather than necessarily on the family of all such triples.\N\NThe authors find sufficient conditions on a \(3\)-pseudofield ensuring that the associated restricted sharply \(3\)-transitive group is also \(2\)-transitive. They also give an explicit \(3\)-pseudofield on \(\mathbb{R}^2\) which yields a group of affine transformations of the plane that is simultaneously \(2\)-transitive and restricted sharply \(3\)-transitive.
