On periodic 4-transitive permutation groups
From MaRDI portal
Eine Gruppe heißt periodisch, wenn jedes Element von G endliche Ordnung hat. Ist G vierfach transitiv auf \(\Omega\) und \(H=G_{\alpha \beta \gamma \delta}\) (\(\alpha\),\(\beta\),\(\gamma\),\(\delta\in \Omega\), paarweise verschieden), \(I(H):=\{\alpha \in \Omega | h\alpha =\alpha\) für alle \(h\in H\}\), so operiert H nicht fixpunktfrei auf \(\Omega\) \(\setminus I(H)\). Dieser Satz verallgemeinert Ergebnisse von C. Jordan und \textit{M. Hall} [Pac. J. Math. 4, 219-226 (1954; Zbl 0055.018)].
