On removable singularities for integrable cr functions

Abstract: We endeavour a systematic approach for the removal of singularities for CR functions on an arbitrary embeddable CR manifold.

Let \(M\) be a paracompact locally embeddable CR manifold. A closed subset \(\Phi\) of \(M\) is called \(L^p\)-removable, \(p\geq 1\), if each function \(f\in L^p_{\text{loc}} (M)\) which satisfies the Cauchy-Riemann equations on \(M\backslash\Phi\) in the distribution sense is CR on the whole of \(M\), or, for short, if \(L^p_{\text{loc}CR}(M\backslash\Phi\cap L^p_{\text{loc}}(M)=L^p_{\text{loc CR}}(M)\). In this paper, we give several removability results under various conditions on closed sets \(\Phi\) that are contained in real submanifolds of \(M\). The main general assumption throughout the article is that \(M\) and \(M\backslash\Phi\) should be globally minimal. This condition is unavoidable, as shown by a typical example. Concerning the results, we prove for instance that every closed subset \(\Phi\) of \(M\) of finite \((d-3)\)-dimensional measure, \(d=\dim_{\mathbf R}M\), is \(L^p\)removable. Our main theorem concerns singularities \(\Phi\) that are contained in a real closed connected submanifold \(N\) of \(M\). If the CR dimension \(m\) of \(M\) is positive \((m\geq 1)\), we prove that every \(N\) of codimension at least three in \(M\) is \(L^p\)- and \(\mathcal W\)-removable, that if \(N\) has codimension two and \(\Phi\subset N\) is a proper closed subset of \(N\), then \(\Phi\) is \(L^p\)- and \(\mathcal W\)-removable and finally that if \(m\geq 2\), and \(N\) is generic at one point, then \(N\) is \(L^p\)- and \(\mathcal W\)-removable. The main interest in this article is that we treat the CR dimension one case. These results are structurally due to the strong geometric nature of the Cauchy-Riemann operator and depend on the description of parts of the envelope of holomorphy of CR generic manifolds minus proper closed singularity sets.
