Research exposition (monographs, survey articles) pertaining to potential theory (31-02) History of potential theory (31-03) Potentials and capacity, harmonic measure, extremal length and related notions in two dimensions (31A15) Boundary value and inverse problems for harmonic functions in higher dimensions (31B20)
This article is a survey of the fruitful collaboration between V. G. Maz'ya and the author during 1965-72. Three main themes are highlighted: 1) \(L^p\)-approximation by analytic and harmonic functions; 2) uniqueness sets for analytic functions; 3) the Cauchy problem for the Laplace equation. The style is informal and highly readable, with historical, autobiographical and motivational comments interspersed between summaries of the main problems considered and important results obtained. For the entire collection see [Zbl 0923.00034].
