On the classical Waring problem
From MaRDI portal
The paper is an expository one, includes some biographical, bibliographical, and historical information about representations of integers by some special integer sequences, in particular by sums of powers. After digressions about some formulas of Euler on partitions of integers, the author sketches a description of the main steps of the classical Waring's problem, from Waring's own Latin formulation up to about 1997. Several variants are also mentioned. The bibliography contains \(66\) entries.
