On the generating function of Borchardt.
Für die erzeugende Function (siehe Cayley, A memoir on the symmetrie functions, London, 1857): \[ \theta (t_1, t_2, \ldots t_n) = (-1)^{n} \frac{f(t_1) \ldots f(t_n)}{\varPi (t_1, \ldots t_n)} D_{t_1} \ldots D_{t_n} \left[ \frac{\varPi (t_1, \ldots t_n)}{f(t_1) \ldots f(t_n)} \right], \] wo \(\varPi (t_1, \ldots t_n)\) das Product aller Differenzen der Grössen \(t_1, t_2, \ldots t_n\) bezeichnet, wird der für die Rechnung geeignetere Ausdruck gegeben: \[ \theta (t_1, t_2, \ldots t_n) = \frac{(-1)^{n-1}}{f(t_1) \ldots f(t_n) \;\varPi (t_1 , \ldots t_n)} \] \[ | f'(t), f(t) - tf'(t), \ldots (n-1) t^{n-2} f(t) - t^{n-1} f'(t)|, \] wo \[ | F_1 (t) , F_2 (t), \ldots F_n (t)| \] die Determinante bezeichnet, die aus den Functionen \[ F_1(t), F_2 (t), \ldots F_n (t) \] nach Substitution der \(n\) Argumente \(t_1, t_2, \ldots t_n\) gebildet wird.
