Orthogonal Gabor frames for model sets
A pair of frames is orthogonal if their mixed dual Gramian operator vanishes; in this case, they are referred to as pairwise orthogonal or strongly disjoint frames. Orthogonal frames enable independent analysis and reconstruction in separate channels, a capability that is crucial for building robust signal processing architectures.\N\NIn this paper, the author investigates the orthogonality of Gabor frames generated by time-frequency shifts along model sets that extend lattice structures and naturally arise in the theory of quasicrystals. This framework encompasses both semi-regular and fully irregular systems, while broadening the classical theory of orthogonal frames for shift-invariant lattice-based systems to a wider and more general context.\N\NIn particular, necessary and sufficient conditions under which two Gabor systems associated with model sets constitute orthogonal and dual frames in \(L^2(\mathbb{R}^n)\) are established. Furthermore, the dual frame property within super Hilbert spaces constructed as orthogonal direct sums is examined, with emphasis on its relevance for Gabor-type constructions.
