The authors rederive Kummer's second theorem: NEWLINE\[NEWLINEe^{-x}{_1F_1} (\alpha; 2\alpha;2x)={_0F_1} \left(-;\alpha +{1\over 2}; {1\over 4}x^2\right)NEWLINE\]NEWLINE by comparing certain known Eulerian integral representations for \(_1F_1\) and \(_0F_1\).
