Principles of gas-solid flows

From MaRDI portal

This book is divided into two parts. The first part deals with basic relationships for a mixture of gas and small solid particles. The geometrical and physical descriptions of particles, collisional mechanics of solid particles, momentum and charge transfer, and basic equations of mechanics of heterogeneous interacting continua are discussed in this part. Some phenomena in gas-solid flows such as erosion and attrition, acoustic wave and shock wave propagation throughout a mixture of gas and small solid particles and so on are described in this part, too. The second part is concerned with characteristics of some gas-solid systems. The topics of this part are gas-solid separation, hopper flows and standpipe flows, the general concept of gas fluidization, dilute transport, and pipe flow of gas-solid suspensions. This book will be useful to chemical, mechanical, and civil engineers, and to scientists in related areas.
