Profinite rigidity of lamplighter groups
From MaRDI portal
A finitely generated residually finite group \(G\) is called rigid if for any finitely generated residually finite group \(H\), the isomorphism of the profinite completions \(\widehat G\cong \widehat H\) (or, equivalently, if the sets of all finite quotients of \(G\) and \(H\) coincide) implies \(G\cong H\). In this paper, the author proves that the lamplighter group \(L_{n,p} = (\mathbb{Z}/p\mathbb Z)^n\ \wr \mathbb Z\) is profinitely rigid for any prime \(p\) and any positive integer \(n \geq 1\).
