Proof of Guo's two conjectures
Let us use \((a)_n\) to denote the Pochhammer symbol and, for a prime \(p\), let \(\Gamma_p(x)\) denote the \(p\)-adic Gamma function. In 1997, \textit{L. van Hamme} [Lect. Notes Pure Appl. Math. 192, 223--236 (1997; Zbl 0895.11051)] proposed the following supercongruence: for any odd prime \(p\), modulo \(p^2\),\N\[\N\sum_{k=0}^{\frac{p-1}{2}} \frac{(1/2)_k^3}{k!^3}\N=\N\begin{cases}\N-\Gamma_p(1/4)^4, & p \equiv 1 \pmod{4}, \\\N0, & p \equiv 3 \pmod{4}.\N\end{cases}\N\]\N\NThere exist some \(q\)-analogues of this kind of supercongruence. Instead of using congruences modulo \(p^2\), one considers congruences modulo \(\Phi_n(q)^2\), where \(\Phi_n(q)\) is the \(n\)-th cyclotomic polynomial.\N\NThis paper uses Singh's quadratic transformation formula to establish a \(q\)-congruence related to Van Hamme's supercongruence and confirms two conjectures proposed by \textit{V. J. W. Guo} [Chin. Ann. Math., Ser. B 46, No. 5, 725--732 (2025; Zbl 08105271)].
