This volume contains most of the papers presented in the oval session of the 7th Kyoto Summer Institute on Dynamical Problems in Soliton Systems, held in Kyoto from August 27 to 31, 1984. Furthermore, it contains contribution of R. U. Bullough, H. H. Chen, A. S. Davydov and N. Sanchez. The conference subject was devided into six parts: 1) Mathematical Theory of Solitons, 2) Field Theory and Statistical Mechanics of Solitons, 3) Solitons in Plasma Physics and Hydrodynamics, 4) Solitons in Condensed Matter Physics, 5) Solitons in Biological Systems, 6) Solitons and Chaos.
