Fractional order Volterra equations with applications to elasticity

A class of Volterra integro-differential equations with singular kernels is studied. After a detailed introduction certain results are stated and proofs given. The quasi-static projection is described and mode of generation of singular kernels indicated. The paper provides parallel analysis of the authors' earlier model interpolating between a visco- elastic solid and a Kelvin-Voigt solid. The role of quasi-static approximation is also examined.
