Buckling analysis of a laminated cylindrical shell under torsion subjected to mixed boundary conditions
First-order shear deformation theory and Donnell's shallow shell approximation form the basis for the study of linear bifurcation problem for cross-ply laminated cylindrical shells under torsion. Functional degrees of freedom are axial forces, in-plane shear forces, axial bending moments, torsional moments and transverse deflections. Truncated double Fourier series arise in a general linear matrix eigenvalue problem. Experience shows that six terms in axial direction and ten terms in circumferential direction are sufficient for an accuracy of four digits.
