Uniform embedding of Abelian topological groups in Euclidean spaces
In einigen früheren Arbeiten aus den Jahren 1960 und 1988 [Usp. Mat. Nauk 15, No. 3(93), 133-136 (1960; Zbl 0116.260) sowie Acta Math. Hung. 51, 371-399 (1988; Zbl 0664.22003), ibid. 52, 101-131 (1988; Zbl 0664.22004)] hatte der Verfasser untersucht, welche lokalkompakten abelschen (lka) Gruppen sich homöomorph in den \(\mathbb{R}^ n\) einbetten lassen. Hier wird die analoge Frage für uniforme Einbettungen gelöst. Die Hauptergebnisse lauten wie folgt: jede \(n\)-dimensionale lka Gruppe ist uniform in den \(\mathbb{R}^{n+2}\) einbettbar; eine \(n\)-dimensionale lka Gruppe ist in den \(\mathbb{R}^{n+1}\) genau dann uniform einbettbar, wenn ihre Komponenten lokal zusammenhängend sind, und in den \(\mathbb{R}^ n\) genau dann, wenn sie zu \(\mathbb{R}^ n\) isomorph ist. Die Beweise stützen sich, neben einer einfachen Rechnung, auf die Sätze des Verf. über topologische Einbettbarkeit sowie auf den Struktursatz für lka Gruppen. Zuletzt werden die erhaltenen Sätze noch unter Verzicht auf die lokale Kompaktheit auf abelsche topologische Gruppen angewendet, wobei natürlich mit der Vervollständigung gearbeitet wird.
