Parameter estimation in systems of nonlinear equations
The model considered in the paper consists of a minimization of a sum of squares of nonlinear functions that depend on parameters to be estimated and on an independent model parameter. The system of nonlinear equations is solved to get model function values and the resulting data are then inserted into a standard parameter estimation code to compute the least squares fit. As an application the coupled mass equilibrium problem as the relationship between antibody and antigen determinant is described and numerical results based on laboratory data are included to test the algorithm.
