Hypertopologies on function spaces

Using the reviewer's idea of identifying functions with graphs and embedding them into hyperspaces, the authors consider several function space topologies and extend the reviewer's results [Quest. Answers Gen. Topology 9, No. 1, 33-60 (1991; Zbl 0717.54005)]. They show that a metric space \(X\) is locally compact if and only if the topological convergence and that induced by the Fell topology coincide on \(C(X)\). One of the interesting results in the characterization of quasi-continuous functions in terms of upper Hausdorff and proximal convergences. The paper also includes characterizations of total boundedness and second countability in terms of hyperspaces. The setting is in metric spaces.
