Setzt man \(\alpha = \frac 12 \theta e^{i \varphi}, \; \beta= \text{tang\,} \frac 12 \theta . e^{-i \varphi}\), wo \(\theta\) und \(\varphi\) bezw. das Complement der Breite und die Länge auf der Kugelfläche bezeichnen, so findet der Verf. die fragliche Gleichung in der Gestalt \[ \frac{d \alpha'^2}{(1- \alpha'^2) (1-k^2 \alpha'^2)} = \frac{d \beta'^2}{(1- \beta'^2) (1- k^2 \beta'^2)}, \] wo \(\alpha' = \alpha \sqrt k\), \(\beta' = \beta \sqrt k\), \(k= \frac{\sqrt{a^2 -c^2} - \sqrt{b^2 -c^2}}{\sqrt{a^2 -c^2} + \sqrt{b^2 - c^2}}\), wenn der sphärische Kegelschnitt bestimmt ist durch \[ \frac{x^2}{a^2 + \lambda} + \frac{y^2}{b^2 + \lambda} + \frac{z^2}{c^2 + \lambda} =0, \quad x^2 + y^2 + z^2 =1. \] Daher \(\alpha = \sqrt k . \text{sn} (u+iv), \beta = \sqrt k . \text{sn} (u-iv)\), wo \((u+iv) \pm (u-iv) = \text{const.}\) Vermittelst dieser Gleichungen werden die stereographischen Projectionen der sphärischen Kegelschnitte betrachtet.
