The authors review \textit{B. F. Skubenko}'s work [Izv. Akad. Nauk SSSR, Ser. Mat. 26, 721-752 (1962; Zbl 0107.04201)] on the asymptotic distribution of lattice points on a one-sheeted hyperboloid and ergodic theorems.
