Self-linking invariants of embeddings in the metastable range

From MaRDI portal

Conditions are given under which Kearton's obstruction, for homotopic embeddings f and g to be isotopic, is well defined, i.e. depends only on f and g and not on the homotopy between them. This leads to a self- linking invariant which is used to classify certain knots in non-simply connected manifolds.
