Zur Kritik der von \textit{H. I. Richards} (s. vorstehende Besprechung) ausgesprochenen Behauptung, daß hohe Interkorrelation zwischen einzelnen Variablen keinen Einfluß auf den multiplen Korrelationskoeffizienten habe, wird versucht, analog der Theorie der linearen Gleichungen eine Theorie der linearen Abhängigkeit bzw. der Freiheitsgrade aufzustellen (vgl. auch \textit{R. Frisch}, 1928; JFM 55.0925.*).
