Nonlinear waves in thermo-magnetostrictive elastic materials
This paper deals with the propagation of bulk nonlinear thermomagneto-elastic waves from a source by using the multiple scale method. The nonlinear analysis is based upon rotationally invariant coupled nonlinear thermoelastic equations of anisotropic magnetostrictive materials. A slow space variable is introduced and then a Poincaré expansion is used for the variables of the quasistatic thermomagneto-elastic field. The first-order approximation as well as the second-order approximation are stated. A closed-form solution for a displacement field is found in the first-order approximation. The displacement versus distance is numerically obtained for different values of time. The multiple scale method is concluded to be valid far beyond the limits prescribed by the Poincaré expansion.
