Results of \textit{S. Negami} [Osaka J. Math. 21, No. 3, 477-487 (1984; Zbl 0561.57004)] and of \textit{S. Negami} and \textit{K. Okita} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 289, No. 1, 253-280 (1985; Zbl 0534.57002)] showed every genus 2 Heegaard diagram of \(P^3\) is reducible (by wave moves). The authors show by example that this result cannot be extended to genus 3.
